Culinary thyme; we use this around the garden as a summer flowering ground cover together with Thymus "Minimus". Great around rocks, in the herb garden or in the border.
My favourite variety for tea when used fresh, with rich clean flavour. Also dries well. Grow in sheltered garden out of hot afternoon sun.
Tangy lemon flavour and fragrance, add to stuffing, stew, and marinades. Also useful as ground cover in cottage garden or border plantings.
Outstanding grey foliage plant for rock garden, border, or mass planting. Contrasts well with colourful foliage like berberis and cotinus, or in combination with Salvia nemorosa varieties. Yellow button flowers through summer, trim off if not your colour scheme!
Australian bred cultivar, vigorous and ideal for our conditions and soil types, up to 2.4m. Sweet fruit and high yielding once established. Good keeping qualities and more resistant to bruising than other varieties.
Low growing mounding variety with finely dissected silver foliage for perennial border or amongst roses. Herbaceous habit makes it compatible with bulbs and other low growing perennials.
Lovely variety with flower spikes in peach and apricot tones, like the colours of old fashioned roses. Clumping habit and long flowering.
Prostrate white thyme only 1 cm high, plant as lawn or amongst stones, gravel or pavers for ground cover.
Edible santolina, said to add the flavouring of olives to marinades and baked dishes. Combine with thyme, rosemary, basil and tarragon flavours. Attractive and abundant yellow pompoms.
Paprika red yarrow, fades to attractive dusky red as flowers age. Easy drought and frost hardy perennial, medium height.
A dense growing multi stemmed variety prized for topiary and hedging, featured at Sissinghurst Castle. Bright blue flowers.
Wonderful summer flowering perennial from central Europe from Afghanistan to Tibet. Lavender blue flowers during the summer, popular in eastern herbal medicine.
Lemon thyme, great for savoury meat dishes and marinades, also a long flowering ornamental garden plant. Larger than most ground-covering types, it forms a 30 cm mound and flowers well in summer even in dry conditions. Ideal for mass planting amongst stones with paeonies and crocus. Pink flowers.
Vigorous herb which needs to be sited with consideration, like comfrey. Grows a bit too well from root cuttings, but worth having in the kitchen garden.
