Old fashioned "catmint", mostly used as a border or edging in cottage gardens. Soft blue flowers, trim lightly in mid summer for a repeat flower in autumn.
Tall Phlox paniculata type, soft pink flowering in summer, best on fertile moisture retentive soil with astrantia, delphiniums and herbaceous perennials.
Rich pink form of Phlox paniculata, lovely upright tall flower stems, variety originally distributed by Frogmore Gardens. One of the more vigorous varieties but like all paniculata types, loves fertility and good soil with plenty of summer moisture!
Pink form of Astrantia major: a good companion for hostas and dicentras in woodland.
Our own variety which we have multiplied from division, flame orange fading into chesnut brown.
Strong upright variety great for amongst grasses and floral work. Best on drained soils. Cut to the ground in winter every 2-3 years when growth congested.
Fantastic perennial unlike anything else. Large yellow sombrero-shaped daisies on 1.8 metre stems with large blue grey leaves. Focal point for the back of a mixed border or a feature in a prairie garden.
White form of the Algerian iris, equally as hardy as the blue forms. Best in free draining soil, colonizes well over time forming grassy mounds flowering in winter. Ideal mass planting under shrubs or specimen plant.
A strong variety of bluebells that will colonize well in areas of shade or part sun, active mid winter and flowering spring to early summer, potted cluster of bulbs.
Flat white lacecaps on multi level horizontally tiered branches, a much admired classic form.
A softer apricot colour than the regular brighter tangerine variety, flowers for much of the year in fertile heavier soil types.
A vigorous tall late summer flowering variety that never disappoints in its florferous abundance, provides good fill and the blue looks great with autumn grasses, sedums and rudbeckia.
A beautiful grass from Peru where it grows on elevated dry plateau on gravelly ground. In Australia it tends to flower autumn to winter, and prefers to dry off in summer, although in mild areas it seems to flower continuously if dead headed. Cut older plants back to half after flowering once growth begins to show signs of drying off. The white flowers...
A local plant Ive always loved on the roadsides in summer on Bruny, flowering creamy white in massed colonies. A worthwhile addition to summer perennial plantings with sedums, austrostipa, agastache, and miscanthus. Lower growing and more slender than many other grasses.
One our favourite new grasses, waist high flowers with rich green foliage, creating good mounding fill and texture within summer perennial plantings. Grows best on heavier fertile soils, and responds well to moisture in summer if available, but not overly demanding.
Beautiful semi deciduous shrub with attractive textured multicoloured leaves and white flowers, likes good drainage and shade or dappled sun. Can often retain its leaves but benefits from an occasional light prune to promote basal growth.
