Heleniums are the mainstay of summer togeather with miscanthus, sedums and perovskia. They need virtually no water and put on a great display in our border despite being completely neglected. This is the wild occurring yellow flowered form.
One of the best variegated cultivars with bright green leaves and white margins. A fine architectural plant with Dicentra and shade loving geraniums.
We have grown seedlings of Alice Haysom, from which we have selected the best plants and increased from division. Best in well drained conditions in a pot or the rock garden.
An attractive variety with tangerine to red single flowers, we love these for summer colour with rudbeckia, sedums and echinacea.
A useful border allium, flowering in mid summer, producing tall stems topped with spherical heads, about the size of crab apples. These begin green, then as the season progresses, burgundy colouration gradually extends down until the balls are entirely coloured. Best planted closely as a clump for good effect.
Attractive cottage plant and popular medicinal plant also. Easily grown in well drained soil, best with added fertiliser.
White flowers suffused with the palest lilac, darkest at the tips. Tall stems great for flower arranging. Amongst my current favourites.
A lower compact form that is brilliant for massed foreground plantings at 40cm high. These cheerful flowers combine well with other summer flowering perennials like echinacea, sedums, salvias, and perennial grasses. Ideal in coastal and Mediterranean climates.
Classic white hellebore for mass planting under trees and shrubs, ensure good soil and plenty of mulch, remove old leaves in summer to promote winter growth.
Grey blue low growing grass with weeping foliage, used for landscaping applications in mass plantings, edgings, or combined with euphobias, westringia and sedums.
Later season Aster laterifolius cultivar with dark foliage and pink flowers. A attractive foliage variation and mounding habit has a soft effect. Great in meadow style plantings with other perennials.
Mound forming succulent for sunny dry areas, pots or rock garden; best if kept dry. Attractive leaves in rosettes.
Single, white flowered variety, shrubby in form, large flowers and strong growth habit. Clips nicely to form a mound of foliage or low hedge.
A terrific low growing variety for foreground plantings, only just over knee high and easier to manage than some of the larger kniphofia. Colourful burnt orange flowers in summer look good with rudbeckia, grasses and sedums.
Unusual Aconitum with glossy attractive foliage and pale lemon flowers on upright stems. Clump forming and easy in shade.
