Pretty variety that begins soft yellow then fades as the flowers age. Prolific flowering during winter, liking drained soils and drying out a little in summer. Cut back fairly hard early summer to around 2/3 to half height to keep compact. Looks terrific in mass plantings like all the wallflowers.
My favourite new salvia for border, rose-garden or mass planting. White flowers enveloped by a royal purple calyx on a vigourous plant that"s not too big, but not too small. Grows well in large containers providing you remember to water.
Low growing bedding and border plant with blue flowers, lasts well in a vase and keeps producing if deadheaded.
Excellent perennial grass from Japan. Like a compact "Sarabande" type but only around chest high. Typical feathery seed heads in autumn.
A pleasing break from the usual hot colours, a subtle kniphofia with two-toned pokers in peach and ivory.
Terrific tall variety, white flowering. Basal foliage produces dozens of 2m flower spikes, superb summer flowering background, plant in heavier fertile soil, shorter in less ideal conditions.
The lowest growing of all the lambs ears, and a brilliant long lasting drought tolerant groundcover forming mats of velvety foliage maximum only 10cm tall. We use this extensively for edging borders and paths, and find it combines well with armeria, thymes, origanum rotundifolium, and dwarf bulbs.
White outward-facing bell flowers clustered on tall stems over a rosette of bright green foliage make this a very attractive garden plant. A suitable ground-cover for colonising difficult areas, particularly in the wild garden where it can be left to ramble freely.
Pink 'Pacific Giant' strain. Requires good soil and drainage to flourish. Delphiniums are best situated in an easterly aspect with morning sun only, protected from hot afternoon sun and drying wind.
Much improved form of the regular white Siberean iris, with larger flowers and a stronger growth habit. Likes moist fertile soil, border or pond margin, we imported from the UK in mid 90s.
A superb variety, flowering long into autumn with rich indigo flowers. Tip prune young plants to encourage bushy form before flowering. Ideal with roses and in cottage gardens.
Beautiful grey foliage variety with musk pink flowers in early summer. Trim as lavenders and salvia.
Evergreen Iris from Burma, China and Japan. An attractive species with fans of leaves and light blue flowers in early summer. I find the foliage effect of this plant very useful when combined with grasses, sedums and euphorbias. Interesting large seed heads.
A beautiful medium height triandrus cultivar with white flowers in spring, one of our favourite narcissus.
Mounding grey foliage plant resembling ballota, useful for larger coastal gardens where it forms an effective ground cover with westringea, correa, prostrate rosmary and native grasses. Can also be grown as a low hedge if planted 80cm apart.
