Old fashioned cottage plant with intense blue flowers, easily grown but best in clay based soil.
Aquilegia caerulea cultivar, long spurred pure white flowers in spring. Aquilegias look lovely in mass plantings under trees in a woodland setting.
Pure white Astilbe, a lovely contrasting variety when planted in combination with Astilbe 'Fanal'. Fresh green foliage and white spikes in early summer.
A strong variety of bluebells that will colonize well in areas of shade or part sun, active mid winter and flowering spring to early summer, potted cluster of bulbs.
This is the best variety for drying and essential oil production, as it has a higher than usual oil concentrate in the leaves. Used in the production of cosmetics and fragrances.
One of our favourite new sedums with deep maroon and grape purple foliage. Similar in size and as easy as "Autumn Joy". Flowers start deep pink and turn terracotta, followed by wonderful seed heads in autumn.
This variety has huge, fringed orange-red blooms, which rival paeonies for show and splendour! Only a few, available July onwards.
Low mounding variety that will trail over a wall or amongst rocks, likes drained drier soil types. Tasmanian native, very pretty plant and surprisingly tough, will withstand summer dry.
Lovely pale blue flowers in spires over glossy foliage make this a popular cottage garden plant for sun or part shade. Best in clumps amongst roses, or salvias in a position that's not too hot with plenty of mulch.
Native to Spain, Portugal and Morocco, a spectacular tall grass with attractive seed heads in autumn. Takes a few years to achieve maturity but well worth the wait.
Superb tall drumstick type allium with white flowers, ensure very well drained soil and not too wet in winter and dry in summer, especially after flowering
Attractive shrub for the sunny border with apricot foxglove-like flowers in summer. Very drought tolerant but doesn't like frost.
Lower growing to waist high with soft foliage and improved autumn colour, one of the better panicums. A nicely clumping contained grass that looks good in groups amongst echinacea and summer perennials, wont self seed and lasts a long time. However needs decent fertile soil to flourish.
A recent release from our trial beds, begins as brighter musk pink then fades to soft pink then eventually cream, subtle and lovely and multicoloured tones as the flowers age. Easily cultivated like other yarrows in full sun.
Clumping plant for clay, pond margins or moist soils. Attractive tall pink fluffy flowers, over palmate foliage. Cut back after flowering to the ground and it will resprout when the conditions are right.
