A local plant Ive always loved on the roadsides in summer on Bruny, flowering creamy white in massed colonies. A worthwhile addition to summer perennial plantings with sedums, austrostipa, agastache, and miscanthus. Lower growing and more slender than many other grasses.
Tall growing ornamental grass, with attractive dark green foliage and feathery seedheads in summer.
White flowers suffused with the palest lilac, darkest at the tips. Tall stems great for flower arranging. Amongst my current favourites.
Perennial wallflower, winter flowering, forms a small shrub. Attracts birds and butterflies, fragrant.
Remarkable silver foliage plant, with vigourous trailing groundcovering habit; suits hanging basket or drystone wall. Extremely tough and adaptable.
A good plant for medium to heavy soils, flowering in summer with sedums, echinacea, rudbeckia and heleniums; fills nicely in the perennial border and amongst ornamental grasses
Tall perennial with deep indigo blue flowers in autumn, loosely resembling a Delphinium in form. Useful because of its tolerance to clay soils and later flowering.
Evergreen rosette-forming penstemon with a tidy appearance and tall spikes of apricot flowers from summer to autumn.
Similar in appearance, but a better all round garden plant than Geranium 'Pink Spice'; most useful as ground cover between roses and amongst taller perennials. Pewter purple grey leaves and pink flowers; vigorous like 'Mavis Simpson'. One of the best varieties.
A vigorous ornamental allium with large pinkish purple spherical flowers on tall wiry stems. Attractive in mass border plantings or in parterre gardens, also a much sought after cut flower. Can self seed so trim off unwanted seed heads when flowers have lost colour.
Tiny grey foliage ground cover for the rock garden which will tolerate dry conditions. Easy and long lasting, good with saxifrage and auricula.
Close relative of Echinacea angustifolia, also used in herbal medicine, sharing many similarities. I find it a better garden plant, more vigorous and productive in growth, and manages better in winter wet.
Seed grown plants from our white flowered form, with dark purple leaves. All plants have purple leaves, with a variation from cream to light blue flowers.
A popular and easily grown culinary herb that will form an excellent ground cover and cascade over a bank or wall.
Upright evergreen ornamental grass, close relative to 'Karl Forester', however with cream and green linear markings on each leaf. Useful for variation of visual texture in grass plantings, attractive upright seedheads.
