Pig Face. Excellent ground-covering succulent for banks and mass planting. Withstands dry conditions.
Upright intermediate between 'Autumn Joy' and 'Purple Emperor', green foliage infused with purple, darkening as the season progresses. Rich pink and rose colours late in summer, wonderful amongst grasses and salvias.
White outward-facing bell flowers clustered on tall stems over a rosette of bright green foliage make this a very attractive garden plant. A suitable ground-cover for colonising difficult areas, particularly in the wild garden where it can be left to ramble freely.
This is the traditional "red hot poker" with bright upright orange pokers in summer and evergreen foliage. Easily grown and prolific.
Soft lemon yellow columbine, long spurs. Spring flowering and easy to grow like other varieties.
Leafy plant from saxifragaceae family, useful for ground cover in dry shade where acanthus and euphorbia can take over. Good drainage and neutral to alkaline soils preferred.
Reddish purple foliage variety; flowers in mixed colours from orange to red. A welcome addition to the summer border, providing some colourful foliage variation.
Prolific carpeting ground cover flowering in spring, along with phlox, auriculas, and pulsatilla. They look best tumbling over a wall or in a rock garden where they get good sun and drainage.
Our own breeding from Astrantia 'Hadspen Blood' ,very dark ruby red flowers. Astrantia, although tough once established, love moist clay loam soils and plenty of fertility to give their best. Division grown.
Aquilegia caerulea cultivar, long spurred pure white flowers in spring. Aquilegias look lovely in mass plantings under trees in a woodland setting.
Popular in Mediterranean dishes combining well with bay, rosemary and sage flavours. Also a attractive cottage garden plant if you like mixing your herbs and flowers.
Rich pink variety, easy cottage garden plant flowering in autumn. Combine with ornamental grasses and sedums.
Easily grown in sun or part shade, the "Lady"s Mantle" is a lovely old fashioned plant for between roses, or for the herbaceous border. Cut back lightly after flowering to promote new foliage.
Rose pink flowers in mid summer, great foliage aroma, makes amazing tea which is sweet like licorice. Add spear mint or thyme for cold drinks, add to salad, etc.
One of my favourite salvias, which always looks great in the autumn. The flowers are lime-green and in exhuberant clusters like something tropical. Responds well to good soil.
