A wonderful variety with large white flowers like Romneya coulteri, unfortunately difficult to propagate so only a few.
Hand pollinated seedlings from our best dark flowered plants from imported stock.
Lavandula officianalis (syn. angustifolia) . Like 'Hidecote' but a more intense darker purple colour with slightly shorter flower spikes.
Beautiful variation of the species from Crete, originally from Marcus Harvey. Winter flowering, and a great compact structure plant in rock gardens amongst dwarf bulbs and cyclamen. Low mounding shape with grassy foliage , cold and drought hardy, long lived and only 25cm high. Overall great plant.
Resembles Euphorbia martinii in flowering, having a reddish brown spot within the green bract. Closer in habit to Euphorbia wulfennii, this a more dependable garden plant, proving itself as long lived in a variety of dry situations.
Grey foliage mat forming ground cover, with tiny yellow button flowers in summer. Best in open sunny situation.
Close relative of Echinacea angustifolia, also used in herbal medicine, sharing many similarities. I find it a better garden plant, more vigorous and productive in growth, and manages better in winter wet.
Beautiful red tinged grass, otherwise known as Japanese Blood Grass. Foliage becomes progressively redder as the season advances, this is a slow growing moisture loving variety that grows best in pots or in fertile soil in a sheltered environment, and is relativley slow growing. Will spread to form a clump over time.
Shade loving variety with delicate soft pink flowers in summer. Use as background planting to hostas and hellebores for summer display.
Dome-forming clumper for the rockgarden or border, flowering profusely during summer with mounds of purple bells. Non-invasive and generally tidy when not in flower. Dislikes acid soil.
White flowers suffused with the palest lilac, darkest at the tips. Tall stems great for flower arranging. Amongst my current favourites.
Japanese woodland species with climbing habit. Prefers drained peaty soil and sun protection, ideal for southern wall or trellis.
Low growing rivale type with a long flowering period, good for path edging or foreground beds, these do best in heavier soils with some fertility, but in good soil are drought hardy and will take some summer heat.
A terrific ground covering plant flowering for a long season with hundreds attractive white flowers, easy to grow over a bank, foreground edging , effective filler as massed as bedding for any situation, or combined in groups with mixed perennials in a meadow setting. All round great plant and current favourite of ours.
