Campanula glomerata 'Nana'
I found this little treasure at Woodbank nursery several years ago. It is a very compact, low plant with impressive large clusters of purple trumpets. Non-invasive and perfect for the rock garden or trough.
Campanula punctata
Beautiful Japanese species with tall stems and large speckled pink bells. Best in the border where it can ramble freely between other perennials. Good cut flower.
Helenium autumnale
Heleniums are the mainstay of summer togeather with miscanthus, sedums and perovskia. They need virtually no water and put on a great display in our border despite being completely neglected. This is the wild occurring yellow flowered form.
Dicentra 'Silver Smith'
Attractive foliage like a Corydalis with a distinct grey-blue tinge and cream flowers in spring. Useful under trees with hellebores and hostas.
Stachys thirkei
A compact species for border and rock garden which works well for ground cover and edging, does not collapse like taller varieties. Very drought tolerant and tidy compact growth.
Nepeta 'Six Hills Giant'
An alternative to 'Walkers Low', when a slightly taller variety is required. Lilac mauve flowers through summer, nepeta will repeat flower if trimmed occasionally.
Verbena peruviana alba
White flowered low spreading ground cover for full sun preferring loose drained soil types. Useful for foreground and border plantings.
Aconitum vulparia
Unusual Aconitum with glossy attractive foliage and pale lemon flowers on upright stems. Clump forming and easy in shade.
Fritillaria meleagris
The beautiful 'snakes head' Fritillaria. Easy to grow but requires drainage, moderate fertility with organic matter content in the soil and a cool position. Best in part shade in the rockgarden, or in a large pot or raised bed. Colour can vary from pink to purple, rarely but occasionally white.
Achillea 'Moonshine'
Soft primrose yellow yarrow, good for floral work and cottage gardens. Easy to grow, perennial. Also referred to in herbal medicine, said to aid in the relief of colds and chest complaints.
Rudbeckia fulgilda var. deamii
Strong growing upright variety, taller than 'Goldsturm' with strong upright stems that will hold upright between mounding grasses and lower perennials.
Tradescantia 'Zwanenburg Blue'
Old fashioned cottage plant with intense blue flowers, easily grown but best in clay based soil.
Epimedium grandiflorum 'Rubrum'
One of the best Epimedium with pink flowers and decorative red tinged foliage. The new growth is particularly attractive, and the flowers are a pleasant variation from the usual yellows.
Achillea x 'Coronation Gold'
One of the best achillea for foliage structure, the flowers are at their best pre colouring when the combination of grey flower buds and silvery foliage provide a lovely texture amongst summer perennials.
Aeonium haworthii
Mound forming succulent for sunny dry areas, pots or rock garden; best if kept dry. Attractive leaves in rosettes.
