A tall architectural plant useful in dry shade, often found in historic gardens around Tasmania. The foliage is a pleasing dark green and the purple flower spikes are an unexpected bonus when they arrive. Cut back the foliage in late summer to rejuvinate.
A tall Iris pseudacorus hybrid for the border or pondside. Can grow in water or in normal garden conditions. Bronze and gold flowers in spring. Can be rampant .
Spreading species from Korea with large white bells speckled pink. Attractive glossy foliage.
Our own cross from this wonderful alpine which we have increased from division. Beautiful indigo shading to purple, free flowering and vigourous once established. Best in well drained conditions in a pot or the rock garden.
Later season Aster laterifolius cultivar with dark foliage and pink flowers. A attractive foliage variation and mounding habit has a soft effect. Great in meadow style plantings with other perennials.
Rarely offered miniature for the rock garden with mounding habit. Porcelain blue bells on wiry upright stems, astounding flowers for such a dwarf plant. Will also grow well in the cottage garden or a pot if given occasional lime.
Luscious watermelon coloured perennial poppy. Plant amongst penstemons, delphiniums and dianthus in the cottage garden. Cut back after flowering and they will often repeat flower in autumn if given a little mulch and TLC.
A low-spreading variety with attractive grey-green leaves and pink flowers. Great under roses with Heuchera americana and Alchemilla mollis.
Semi double almost black from our own breeding, vigorous and strong grower compared to others. Gravelly soil and full sun with some lime.
Tall, decorative late summer flowering purple biennial, introduced to us by Karen Hall. Treat like Angelica gigas, often takes three years to flower then self seeds.
Pretty variety that begins soft yellow then fades as the flowers age. Prolific flowering during winter, liking drained soils and drying out a little in summer. Cut back fairly hard early summer to around 2/3 to half height to keep compact. Looks terrific in mass plantings like all the wallflowers.
A bushy form of Russells lupin with deep pink flowers, ideal between roses and in the perennial border. Pinch out first flower to develop multistemmed form.
Delightful soft pink variety with single flowers for semi shade. A spreading plant useful for mass planting and ground cover beneath deciduous trees.
Strong growing upright variety, taller than 'Goldsturm' with strong upright stems that will hold upright between mounding grasses and lower perennials.
Prolific mid season flowering verbena which combines well in meadow plantings amongst other perennials, the dark stems and foliage look particularly good in full sun with summer colours.
Totally prostrate thyme with white flowers. Good green foliage colour and perfect amongst stepping stones and cobbles. The pink equivalent is Thymus "Minimus"
