Lavandula officianalis (syn. angustifolia) . Like 'Hidecote' but a more intense darker purple colour with slightly shorter flower spikes.
Early summer flowering resembling a blue aster, but flowering for much longer period and all round more contained and well behaved. Likes fertile drained soil
Can often be bicoloured, usually blue and purple depending on soil pH pink if alkaline. Fluffy rounded flower heads, vigorous long flowering.
Clumping plant for clay, pond margins or moist soils. Attractive tall pink fluffy flowers, over palmate foliage. Cut back after flowering to the ground and it will resprout when the conditions are right.
