Old fashioned blue mop top hydrangea, needs acid soil to colour up well. Will go towards pink in alkaline soil.
Lovely species with wine red bells on tall stems. Often the bracts are a silvery grey which contrast nicely with the darker bells. Needs fertile conditions
Tall semi evergreen perennial for dry gardens. Usually late winter flowering with tall stems of clustered lime green flowers. Good for winter structure amongst herbaceous plants.
Rarely seen white form, similar cultivation as for the usual mauve form in part shade.
A brilliant cushion forming plant, abundantly flowering in spring and early summer. We like to use these for path edgings and foreground plantings with dianthus and armeria. Best in friable soil.
Special unusual mounding variety from mountains of Turkey and Armenia, for the rock garden or border. Likes it rocky but fertile and ensure drained not acid soil and plenty of grit, very cold tolerant and tough once established. Flowers start green then age pink with onset of cold nights.
A wonderful Geum kept in circulation by Dennis Norgate; vibrant tangerine orange, repeat flowers throughout the year and non seeding.
Spreading perennial for moist areas with attractive musk-pink drumstick flowers in summer. Best result in cooler climates with morning sun on fertile soil.
Rare woodland perennial from Taiwan vaguely resembling a Trillium. Humus rich drained soil in complete shade is essential for good results.
Double white form, sweetly fragrant and lovely. Easy and clumping like other forms, best used in shade as ground cover.
Cascading ground covering variety for stone walls and rockeries with pure white flowers. Useful in mass planting with prostrate rosemary and thymes. Spring to summer flowering.
Old fashioned auricula, with petals red fading into strawberry and coral. Fertilise lightly with a mix of dolomite, potash and dynamic lifter.
White flowers suffused with the palest lilac, darkest at the tips. Tall stems great for flower arranging. Amongst my current favourites.
Lower growing miscanthus forming waist high foliage mounds with flower stems around chest high. A lovely plant for mass plantings with a graceful shape, more compact than other miscanthus varieties.
Campanula punctata type with semi double flowers, tall panicles, elegant and lovely. Spreading habit, frost and drought hardy.
